WHAT TO EXPECT IN A CONSULTATION
Ayurveda says that all illness is caused by an imbalance in the body, mind or emotional body (relating to the dosha and constitution of the person). During an initial consultation, we will identify the root cause of the imbalance using a range of diagnostic methods (such as pulse, tongue, eye examination) and extensive discussion of a person's medical and life history, for example, work and home life, diet, exercise and sleep.
Consultations take place either in person or online using Zoom/phone.
Following a consultation, a bespoke treatment plan is given to the patient which involves dietary and lifestyle changes and specialist herbs. Follow-up appointments usually take place after 2-3 weeks. The length of the treatment varies from person to person and depends on different factors, for example how the disease developed and the type of support needed by the individual to incorporate healing changes into their life.
All herbs prescribed are either high quality “kitchen herbs” readily available such as cumin and coriander or specialist herbs provided to trained Consultants affiliated to the Ayurveda Institute UK. Examples include:
Triphala - Emblica officinalis, Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellirica
Shatavari - Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus)
Ashwagandha - Withania somnifera Dunal. (Solanaceae)
Paaka Choorna - Hing, black cumin, methi, ajwain
